Chartered management accountants for UK SMEs. Cloud-first. Commercially minded.
OD Accountants was established around 2014 by Niall O'Driscoll FCMA, CGMA — a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants with more than a decade of freelance restructure and turnaround experience, including listed UK and overseas companies. The firm operates from London (Bethnal Green) and Wells, Somerset, with cloud-based delivery for clients across the UK.
How OD Accountants came to be
The firm was built on a specific observation: most small businesses never get access to the finance function they actually need.
Before founding OD Accountants, Niall O'Driscoll spent his early career in commercial finance — working across an international ski-wear manufacturer, a large UK musical equipment importer and distributor, and a French consumer finance company. He saw at close quarters what a properly resourced finance function could do for a business, and what the absence of one cost. He then spent more than ten years as a freelance accountant specialising in restructures and turnarounds, including assignments with listed companies in the UK and overseas.
The conclusion Niall drew from that work was straightforward: the gap between the finance support available to a large company and what a small one could afford was entirely fixable — if the firm delivering it was built around modern software from the ground up. OD Accountants was founded on that basis. Cloud accounting at the centre, best-of-breed app integrations around it, and chartered-level commercial thinking applied to clients who wouldn't typically have access to it.
Today the firm serves SMEs across digital, hospitality, retail, FMCG, and professional services — from start-ups to established businesses with complex structures. Verified Google client reviews go back more than a decade, with several clients still active after ten or more years. In 2023, OD Accountants acquired Probusiness in Wells, Somerset, extending the same service to the West of England. The work is cloud-delivered, which means geography is rarely a constraint.
The principles that guide the work
These are the things we try to get right on every engagement — not aspirations, but working habits that clients notice and mention.
Cloud-first is the workflow, not the marketing
Every client engagement is built on modern cloud accounting software and the right supporting app stack. That is not an add-on — it is how reporting gets done accurately and on time, how KPI dashboards stay current, and how we can work effectively with clients anywhere in the UK.
You will hear back the same day, every time
Responsiveness is not a feature we advertise — it is something our clients verify. Verified Google reviews consistently describe the team as always available and quick to respond. If the answer needs more time, we say so the same day.
Compliance is a floor, not the whole job
We file what needs to be filed and keep HMRC satisfied, but that is the minimum. The firms and founders we work best with want management information, forecasts, and a clear read on their numbers — not just a set of statutory accounts once a year.
Fees are fixed and agreed before work starts
We do not use hourly billing. Pricing is agreed upfront so clients know what they are paying and can plan accordingly. Client reviews describe our fees as very reasonable, with tax savings that typically more than cover the engagement cost.
Who you will actually work with
OD Accountants is a people-led firm — the chartered expertise is the same whether you are a start-up or a company going through a restructure.
Niall O'Driscoll
Niall O'Driscoll is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Before founding OD Accountants, he worked in commercial finance across a range of businesses — including an international ski-wear manufacturer, a large UK musical equipment importer and distributor, and a French consumer finance company — before spending more than a decade as a freelance accountant specialising in restructures and turnarounds, with assignments spanning listed companies in the UK and overseas. That background shapes how the firm operates: commercially minded, technically rigorous, and more interested in what the numbers mean for a business than in producing reports for their own sake. If you want to have a straightforward conversation about your accounts, a short discovery call is the best place to start.

How clients describe working with us
The following reviews are verbatim from verified Google clients — unedited.
My other-half introduced me to Niall at OD Accountants and I have to say my finances are so much the better for it. Unlike my previous Accountants, Niall is far more hands-on, available for advice and able to care for me as an individual, rather than a faceless client. His fees are very reasonable and the money he has saved me more than covers them. If you need an Accountant who cares, Niall and OD Chartered Management Accountants are the way to go.
I've been there for years and Niall and his team go above and beyond the duties to provide accounting services but also general advices. They are always available if you need anything while charging very competitive prices. I could not recommend them enough.
The service from OD has been excellent, as has their advice. It's great to have access to a financial team who can guide us with such confidence and seamlessly integrate with our internal team. We always feel well-informed and confident about our financial processes and data. Highly recommend.
A short call is all it takes to find out if we're the right fit. No obligation.
